    The gothic crown is one inspection mark.

    Not an inspection crown mark. I'm pretty sure this is an early maker mark for Aesculap of Tuttlingen, mostly likely Imperial era made.

    Makes sense, I agree.
    I sort of thought so, but I couldn't remember the maker, and wasn't sure if they were a manufacturer at that time.

    An interesting company that goes back to the 19th century and was probably better known for medical equipment (that explains the logo) than SA daggers, or trench knives. The company was also known as Jetter u. Scheerer a S 84/98 bayonet maker in late 1930's- early 1940's.

    Here's a photo Reibert posted some years ago of a similar trench knife.
