German Ww1 medical flask - Question

Hello.

Is this an original Ww1 german medical flask? I've seen similar ones, but with the canvas thing around it.

Also one more question, are these rare at all?

I am no expert but from what I can see, it looks good.
It's just missing the cover.

Looks good to me...As Greg mentions, it's missing the felt cover...I found one of these (missing the cup) in the trash in Germany when I was about 10 years old...I think it's still at my parents' house...
Harder to find than the regular canteens...cool score!
