    Default Grandpas Turkish Half-Moon

    Dug this out of the "Bunker" , although Im really a III Reich Regalia collector I do have a few WWI items - for example a WWI Turkish Half Moon /screw back that was awarded my grandpa who served in the German army during WWI . Along with the medal is a picture of him with the Half-Moon in wear. The screw back type is not often seen.

    thats a real nice award horst and something very special to you im sure ,the photograph of your grandpa wearing the award is fantastic

    Always great to see family items and not a medal you see often. Also good to see the the recipient wearing the actual award.

    Is it maker marked at all? I don't recall ever
    seeing one with a Meybauer screw back before.

    GregM - there are no more markings on the medal or the plates other then on the screw plate part which the picture reflects i.e D.R.G.M. (Patent/Registration) and the registration # 653146 -
