Here is a 3/4 sized Prinzen cross. It is shown next to a full
    sized version.

This one is my favorite 2nd class. It's unmarked and not in
great shape but it's hanging from a piece of blood stained
    ribbon. A true veteran.

Like I said--------I'm not really a collector of Ek2s but I do like
ones that have something interesting about them.

So let's see what everyone else has. I am sure there must
be some nice ones sitting in your collections.

Chopperman, thanks for showing more super EK II's. Godet, AHH now your talking quality, its no wonder they were appointed court jewellers !....even the lowly 2nd class Iron Cross was finished to their high standard, here's mine, stamped to the suspension ring with the 'G' for Godet. Notice the crisp detailing, the sharpness of the date & crown, almost seamless on its construction !... infact flawless !......enjoy.

....the reverse of the ' Godet ' EK II is as crisp as the front,...stunning !.
It is not unusual to come across this side of the cross showing on a post war frack/court mounted group, as it was a way for the veteran to show his disgust at the way their Kaiser had deserted them near to the end of the war. It was not unknown for front line troops to break the 'crowns' off the Pickelhaube wappen (helmet badge) for the same reason....

    Nice cross and nice picture

I agree, the quality of the Godets is noticably better
than most other Eks. You can see and feel the difference
when you have them "in hand".

They are a beautifully made cross. There was a nice G 800 marked one on ebay recently that I missed. I love CD 800 pieces too. Haven't got a picture to hand but the core details on both classes are so crisp and stylish. I'm just catching up on this thread having been away and have to say that 1914 prinzen is superb Greg, they're so rare and fine.

Hi Chaps, here's my newest EK2 ring marked FR.

I'm not sure if that's Friedländer, Berlin or Frank & Reif, Stuttgart? Anyone know which one's right?

I'm not too sure about the ribbon on this one as it's a very loose weave. But it feels like silk and passes both the blacklight and burn tests, so it may be just late war or post war poor quality production.

    Cheers,

    Richard.
