    Thank you Patrick!
So far the dispersal of these have been attributed to the "deutscher offiziers verein"
If you go to the Imperial forum on WAF and search for "DOV", you will have a lot of reading available. This one came directly from Kay, "Montgomery Burns"

    VERY, VERY nice cross Ralph.
A seldom seen variation and one I still do not have.
I really like the patina and paint loss on this cross. It must
    have been worn with pride.

It was difficult to spend the money on this one but, as you said, they are not seen often. It was my first Imperial EK I.

    Hi,
    Back home
Fortunately, the dealer stood by his return policy, and I got my money back :-)
He had four other crosses, same iron core, different mm and needles but same catch and finish. All original he claimed !!!!!
    Be careful out there ;-)

    Pat,
That's a good cross. I'm not so sure that the backing
plate is original to the cross but they look like they
have been together for a long time. I would have no
problems adding that to my own collection.

    Nice cross Patrick!
Unusual back plate as Greg says but, nice cross.

Thanks for the opinions guys, I like it because of the backing but what worries me is if it's original to the cross.

I think 300 seems a lot for it, maybe he could take less.
