    Default Makers Mark?

    Gents,

Thank you all for your comments regarding the peculiar ribbon on my last post. Any thoughts on what these marks are and who this maker is? It looks like three punched letters "HU?".

I've got a few ideas of what it could be but without
better pictures it's impossible to say for sure.

My first guess is that it is a poorly stamped "800"
    silver mark.

Thank you Greg. That's about as close as I can get with my phone before it stops focusing. I'll dig out my camera and see if I can get something closer. The first number/letter does appear to be rounded like an 8.

If you have access to a document scanner,
sometimes they work better close-ups than cameras do.
Most of the pics I posted in this thread are done on my old
    Epson scanner.

Looks like an 800 to me too :-)

pS I´ve tried to use my Iphone together with a 10X small magnifying glass to photo a stamp (see earlier this tread). It is tricky but it is possible ;-)

    Hi,

the following EK 2 has popped up on a local auction server. As the seller asks for it more than 100 euro (a truly exorbitant amount by local standards), I am quite curious about its particular maker. Unfortunately, I can't figure out the maker's mark (nor the stamp on the loop ring) and the core seems unfamiliar to me either.
I would be therefore much obliged for any opinions on the maker of this particular cross.

Nice cross, but surely not worth 100 euros. At least not in countries neighbouring Germany
The frame and core looks to be of blued/browned CFZ style.

I agree. It looks like a Zimmerman.
It's a shame the mark on the small ring is not
more legible. Too me it almost looks like a L/9 but
    it could be almost anything.

    Thanks for posting it.

Miro, Chopperman: Thank you for your helpful posts and the quick identification. I guess it partially explains the price, even though 110 € is still too much, if you ask me. But just a couple days ago I saw a regular Friedländer EK1 sold for 279 € on German Ebay, so maybe everything is possible these days. :-)
