    Thanks Greg!
I am aware that little is known for sure, we can only work with information that we have available to us. The link you gave me last time we discussed this does not give any possible maker for "FR". The one I use most of the time is this one.
    Makers of the 1914 EK2
    Cheers,
    Ralph.
I have a copy of Tony's list as well and refer to it quite often.
Who made the FRs is just one of those that despite the lists, there is still
a lot of debate about and little evidence to support a claim in
any direction. With as many people interested in ww1 crosses
as there is now, I'm hopeful we will turn up clues to many of the
unknown makers. All it would take is for someone to find grandpa's
medal still in the original envelope or a period catalog or advertisement
to be found stuck in someones bookshelf. There is still stuff out there.
We just need to keep an eye open for it.

    It is an original cross.
It is well worn and looks to have been poorly repainted at some point
in it's life or possibly touched up with a black marking pen.

This is a great thread. I've enjoyed all the pieces and photos. I'll post my WS EKI as well. Nothing special but beautiful to me. I received it in the case shown but I believe it is a WWII EK case. No matter, though. It's safe and sound and happy in a home.
