John, an original Prussian Infantry officers "Offiziersmantel" or "Paletot", a double breasted light grey wool overcoat for mounted and dismounted Officers. The colour combination of the collar, dark blue/red indicate Prussian Infantry....as do the black flecked shoulder straps. During 1915/16 it was replaced by the field grey "Einheitsmantel".
The shoulder straps bearing the "1" are for the rank of Oberleutnant (a Company officer) and IMO are for "Grenadier-Regt. Kronprinz (1.Ostpreußisches) Nr.1." garrisoned at Königsberg and part of I Armee Korps. The base colour of the shoulder strap is white, which indicates Army Corps colour, 1 Army Corps was white.
There are two gilt buttons missing on the rear skirt pleats, but they should not be difficult to obtain......
Prost ! Steve.
