Hi. Can anyone please tell me something about this medal? It would be greatly appreciated. On the cross: "Krieger U"; "Landw."; "Verein"; "Friedenau 1877". There is nothing on the rear of cross.
Thanks.

Tom,
It looks like a commemoritive badge to the War Vetrans ascociation (KriegerBund). They look to be issued to Front soldiers (Krieger) and civil defence/second line troops(landwehr) verien is club/group. This part of the Group came from Friedenau in 1877. It would therfore not be official as such and would only be for the local members. I know nothing of this period but thats what it translates to roughly. Hope this helps.
Jock
Thanks Jock. Already more than I knew before. A step in the right direction.
Tom
Jock is correct. This style of cross was made for the many
different veterans associations. Unfortunately I do not know
the specific details about this one.
