Hello Gents,Can anyone help me with some information about this sword. It is original ? From what period it was made ?
Your sword is indeed original but isn't Prussian: Wurttembourg and another Germanic state shared the same hilt profile with Prussia for this type infantry officer's sword, but replaced the Prussian Eagle with a coat-of-arms. I'm sorry I'm not where my reference book is but I'm pretty sure this belonged to an officer of the unnamed province. The black enamel scabbard with the moveable ring and apparently aluminum hilt painted gold all suggest the Third Reich period before sword manufacture was prohibited due to wartime shortages.
Thank you very much for the informations !
I would say a Wurttemberg pattern 1889 infantry sabre based on the heraldic shield.
Thank you Anderson ! That means the sword its before Third Reich ?
My feeling is either Imperial era or early Weimar. The scabbard could have been a later replacement. By the TR era the Imperial system was well out of favour.
hello to me everything is on the saber original and is nicely preserved, as Mr Anderson writes it's Wurttemberg infantry officiers sword model 1889
Thnak you all for your answears !
