Re: List of Imperial EK2 makers.
Chris..it could be a miss struck "L V 26" or ......"L W", which is a known mark but unknown maker, this mark can be added to the list. I am loathed to recognise the mark "L V 2" unless more crosses or documented evidence turns up, See what the others have to say on the matter.
More marks for Imperial EK's especially 1870 versions. Imperial Germany did not adopt the metric system until 1872, before that silver content on medals was marked as on silver coins, "LOTH","LOTHE" or "LOTIG" and a number to indicate a measurement of fine silver parts per 1000, each LOTH equals 62.5 parts silver and theoreticaly could go from 2 LOTH to 16 LOTH. Known markings are:-
14 LOTH
14 LOTHE
14 LOTIG
Prost ! Steve.

I thought about the miss struck possibility of LV26 but the seller said it was clearly a LV2. Unfortunately i was a bit late and didn't get the cross. So i cannot support the seller's theory with confidence. Since no one else here has seen a mark LV2 your theory seems more correct Steve.

Re: List of Imperial EK2 makers.
Chris, my theory could be correct, but not watertight ! see gregs LV list, a "2" may very well exist, but is unknown at this time....if more start turning up, then you may of found a new known mark, but as of yet, unknown maker !
Prost ! Steve.
