    Default Ludwig 1916 Medal

I'm going through some medals and other relics that my uncle brought back from Germany after WW II. He served in the Allies reconstruction effort. Among the pieces was this medal, which dates from WW I. Other items seem to be genuine so I'm wondering about this, especially since it is older.

Since the medal is so dark (Zinc?), I adjusted the picture's brightness and contrast to see the details better.

These are usually of blackened iron or bronze, but late in WWI were also
made of zinc. The Ludwig Cross is from the State of Bavaria, and was
given to soldiers and civilians for merit.........
