M16 Camo Helmet Shell ?

Hi guys, I've had this nice camo helmet in my collection for several years. I picked it up on ebay for about $100. I generally collect WWII headgear but couldn't pass up on this deal. Can you educate me on this type of helmet ? Is it an M16 or an Austrian type helmet. I really don't know the difference. You can see traces of the camo paint, unfortunately there is no liner or chin strap. Thanks, Al.

M16 and a decent one as well, shame about the liner, does it still have its leather liner ring or are the liner pins the only parts remaining, chin straps would be the type used on the picklehaub helmets, and you can get these, but they are heavily reproduced now, not a bad buy for $100

Hello, thanks for the info. It still has the liner ring and pins, part of the chin strap holder is missing on one side. It's marked BF64 on the side skirt. Here are some pics. Cheers, Al.

Al...it is a German Model 1917 (M17) Stahlhelm..evident by the metal liner band (liner pads were crimped onto this type of liner band) as M16's had a leather one....maker and size marked "BF 62" is "F.C. Bellinger of Fulda" who only made sizes 62 and 64, it is a nice helmet !
