    Default M16 German WW1 Helmet.

    Hey guys,

I have this helmet in another thread but thought I should give it it's own thread.
I got it in Ypres a few years ago.
Was told it was WW1 and all original....
I would love to believe that, but if anyone can shed any light on it I would be really grateful.
Stamp inside says E1039 or B1039.
I have a feeling the shell is WW1 but then it was reused in WW2.
If so I'm still happy with it.
I think the inner liner etc, were replaced for reissue in WW2.
If i'm wrong, great!! If I'm right, still great.
    I still think it's a great helmet.

Enjoy and thanks for your help!!

The shell is original. It has not been rebuilt for reissue for WW2. If it had, it would have been fitted with the M1931 liner system.

However, I would say the liner and chinstrap are modern replacements.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Thanks Ade.
    I can live with that.
I will just consider it "complete"..... ha ha.
I wonder how long ago the replacement was done?
Any ideas what the replacment liner is from?

    Cheers
