Article about: hello, I know this is a relic but what are yall's opinions on it is it authentic? I havent handled the m16 and some m16's ive seen in pictures look different around the lugs on the sides. th

    hello, I know this is a relic but what are yall's opinions on it is it authentic?

    I havent handled the m16 and some m16's ive seen in pictures look different around the lugs on the sides. the weight is different then with the later wwii versions.

    It looks like a nice Austrian M16/17 relic shell. The two small holes is where insignia was once attached. Other members will be able to ellaborate. Nice piece! Cheers, Sean.

    Its an Austrian lid from Afgan surplus. KradSpan that helmet is gorgeous.

    Just for my own clarification on these.
    Wouldn't this be a M18 shell? I thought that the M16 had the M91 chin strap attachment and the M17 had the chin straps attached to the liner band and the M18 has the chin straps attached to the shell.

    Its an M17....that's all Austria made. M18's had no chinstrap bales affixed to the shell-- its strap attached to the linerband.
