Fantastic Helm. Its hard to tell from the pic's. Is the liner band leather or metal?

That bullet dent just makes one wonder what type of headache that German had and how fortunate he was.
Marked chinstrap that can be read and in great condition.BINGO!!!!
    Great pick up

    Hello
Very nice helmet congratulations but I doubt the chinstrap is original to the helmet in my experience they are too late for the war and its been added later. I've had several of these over the years and they rarely match the rest of the helmet condition. imo often I find them loose and never been on helmets. Pickelhaube collectors like them I think that was their official designation personally,, member Adler may have more info.

    Regards
    Eric

It's a wasted trip baby. Nobody said nothing about locking horns with no Tigers.

Thanks for the comments guys. Phil, the liner band is metal. Whatever struck the helmet from the rear bent the metal liner band and knocked out the pin. Must have been a massive force...
