M1895 Prussian Pickelhaube, lacquered ersatz

Article about: My first Pickelhaube arrived a few days ago and I have to say I'm very pleased with it! After being an almost exclusive TR collector it is quite refreshing to have something from the Imperia

Yes, you are now officially infected by the haube virus!
As you know, this is a super rare helmet and still in very nice condition. Congratulations!

And I thank you for your advice with this one Karel!

In fact I have been laying in bed at night thinking how nice an Officer's 'haube with chinscales would look next to this one!

Congratulations Glenn, that's a super nice helmet that is quite difficult to find.

I'm pretty sure the chinstrap is a repro
I would agree, an older repro that has aged brass fittings. It was made sometime in the past 20 years, more or less.

Your helmet will look very nice displayed alongside the camo helmet you've shown.

Again, congratulations on a nice addition to your collection!

    Best Regards,

I've taken a couple of shots of one of the stamps in the rear brim, one shot is taken 'as is' and the other has the contrast heightened to try and get more detail. To my eyes it kind of looks like 'B A 3' and '1916' underneath, would that make any sense?

So here is the 'haube in my display cabinet alongside the M16, a boxed EK2, some French buttons, a French 1845 model buckle, Bavarian tunic belt hook and a glass medicine bottle from Ypres.

All looking rather good if I do say so myself!
