    Default M1917 german helmet liner

I have a ww1 german helmet that could use at least a new liner band, so i bought this. I have an BF64 stamped helmet and i bought this liner, its stamped with a 64. I only paid 28 US dollars for it. Will this fit? I don't know if the size of the liner is different then the helmet.

Usually it's recommended to leave things as they are. You'd just turn it into a parts helmet. Is the liner band marked with a shell size? I don't know if the ww1 liners were but I would have thought so, the M31 liner certainly is. Different shell sizes would have their own liner band size. 64 was the most common shell size at least, so you have the odds slightly in your favour.
