    Hello All.

I have found this some time ago. It's a very small Eisernes Kreuz.
Does anyone know what it is? How it was used? And of course, is it genuine?
It was found together with the pin also showed.
I made a photo, where the cross is beside a replika of a normal sized one.

It was told that both belonged to a named danish/german soldier fighting WWI.
    Any help..

Miniature awards were very popular with veterans
of ww1 and to a lesser extent the 1870/71 war.
It was a way for the proud vet to show off the awards
he had earned during his military service. All were privately
    purchased and not "awarded".

Yours has a rind for hanging from an award chain or from
a button lapel device. Stick pins were also popular.

As a collector of Iron Crosses, I have picked up some
    miniatures from time to time.------

    Hi Greg.
What an impresive collection you have there, i must say..
And thank you so much for enlighten me in the "mini-world".
When you say they are all bought privately, could they buy one, if they had'nt earned the "real" cross?
Are they rare? I do not wan't to sell, but it is nice to know what I'm dealing with.. I gave about 7 USD for it.

I think that with most of the minis, they had to show
that they had earned the award. The iron cross, however
was also used on patriotic jewelry like woman's broaches
    and watch fobs.

$7 is a very fair price.

    Hello again.

Thank you for this information - very useful.
The small cross is no longer a mystery to me.

    Have a nice day!
    Regards Claus.
