On April 9, June 26 and July 29 1871 a total of 2992 "Merit Cross for Woman and young Woman" were
awarded by Queen Agusta of Prussia to recognize the contributions made by woman and nurses for
caring for the injured in the war of 1870.

Fullsized crosses are hard to find and usually command a pretty fair price.

That's a Beauty for sure, Greg...These are indeed scarce and hard to find in any size, miniature or full-size...

Miniature versions of the Maiden's cross are near impossible to find.
Probably given to the fact they had to be purchased by the reciepient
plus the fact that they are so small, these were likely lost or thrown out
with grandma's old jewelry, these are exceedingly rare.

I was lucky enough to have this land at my door step today. I only wish
that my scans could accurately show the quality of the solid silver and enamel
details of this little 15mm cross.
