    Gents,

I'm certainly happy to report that through my Sister in Law's kind gift of an Ebay GIft Cert. I was able to buy my first EKII Award Document. I have never ventured into collecting Award Documents, but I have a funny feeling this won't be my last. Any additional info you can provide on this one would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,

    Joel

Hey Joel....this is completely out of my area....but what a cool document. The bird in the red stamp looks like the Prussian eagle found on some early TR and Weimar belt buckles! Cool!
Hope you get more info on Herr Wasmuth....

    Rob,
Thaks for your reply. Unfortunately, Rick on the GMIC Forum doesn't have any info on anything less than Divisional Level award docs...Maybe one of our fine members in here can find some additional info...

Nice doc for a Mortar Btl guy... I used to collect WW1 Iron Cross documents. Often they're produced by the unit and have great decorative detail. I still have several. One if for the Alpenkorps - large format. I should post it.

Here's the August 14, 1917 dated Alpenkorps Iron Cross 2nd class award document to Gefreiter Walter Engelke. The ink entries are faded but still legible. The unit's battle history is shown on either side of the mountain combat scene. It includes Serbia, Verdun, etc.

At the time of this award, the Alpenkorps was in Romania.

One of its members was Erwin Rommel.
