My Fleiger Badges.

Article about: A Marine Air Service device?

    Default My Flieger Badges.

I have a small collection which I will post here. I started collecting them back in 1971 but along the way have been caught out with fake pieces, some that I recognise and I'm sure some that I don't. So would appreciate your input.

This is a pretty standard Rayback badge, the only mark is what appears to be a square outline on the pin near the top.

This one was bought with the first at a Southerby's auction about twenty years ago.
It is very unusual as it is Black coloured steel. it has been in an impact and is quite distorted.

This one is a cased CE Juncker badge that belonged to Kurt von Doering.
The hook has been repaired at some stage.

Now it gets difficult, Bavarian Flieger badges are much rarer.
This Pilot's badge has a flat back and is hollow, of two piece construction but has no visible air hole and the hook looks suspect.

And the Bavarian Beobachter. It has a pierced crown and is unmarked. I'm sure this is genuine but there is an obvious problem, The enamel Signal Board is rotated 90 degrees! The fixing holes were either horizontal or vertical, so it looks like someone fitted the wrong Board, the enamel isn't of good quality and I suspect it is a replacement.
