Don't know if it's classed as a war relic, but got this WW1 German Patriotic ring for £26. Well chuffed with it.

Very nice ring, Nick. I really enjoy these patriotic items.

Nice find.
Thanks guys. The deal was made even sweeter by the fact the last one of these I saw sold for $135 - £95, so I made quite a saving.
I like it

I was addicted to the "Hokey-Pokey" but I've turned
myself around.
I've always liked the design of these rings! Nice pick up!

Nick, a nice and more importantly, original period Patriotic ring !
Good find !
Prost 1 Steve.
Thanks guys, heartily cheered up that it got the seal of approval.
I don't know much about these sort of rings, but I'm guessing their popularity only lasted (from 1914?) up until 1918/9, when opinion soured after Germany lost the war, and the Kaiser was forced to abdicate. Would love to know if that was the case with these rings.
Not at all. Many WWI vets were quite proud of their service time in the Great War and continued to wear these throughout their lives. You can see that this one looks to have been resized several times in it's life. These rings never carried an onus of embarrassment or shame and even today could be quite openly worn about.
