My initial impression is that it is a nice complete Bell L helmet . The liner drawstring looks new and may be a cause for concern. I reserve judgement on the camo as it requires much better pictures that include detailed macro shots in better lighting to determine originality of paint.
You may have a gem or a fabrication, please post better pictures.

I Agree with John A Bell helmet the air vents tell the story.
I do see a lot of red flags here.
Not sold on the camo.

I will try to get some better pictures. I got this helmet along with a Veterans pipe and Veterans Schnapps flask from a gentleman who said he has had the helmet for over 40 years. He is 93 and flew P-51s in Italy during WWII. I have been collecting for over 20 years, so I know to "buy the item and not the story." I do not proclaim to be an expert on anything, so I appreciate the feedback. I have searched a number of books and sites and have never seen a camo pattern like this? I will try to get some better pictures this evening.
Thanks for your comments.
Kevin
Any particular areas of the paint and helmet that will help? All the pads are present, should I untie one to see what the pad looks like?

I will post pictures of the Pipe and Flask in another thread.
