heyst56, you have a nice model 1895 Pickelhaube, it appears to be in great condition. The M1895 is denoted by its rear spine having a movable vent to allow the wearer to increase/decrease airflow depending on weather to wearers scalp, (this feature was only on Infantry helmets and was adapted in 1914 on other pickelhaubes artillery etc) also the wappen (front badge) is held onto the helmet with a leather wedges passing thro loops on the reverse of the wappen, previous model the M1891 utilised a threaded bolt/nut fastner. The markings 'JR 47' show that the helmet was issued to a soldier in ' Infantrie-Regt. Konig Ludwig III von Bayern (2. Niederschlesisches) Nr 47 '. garrisoned at Posen (II Bn Schrimm) and part of V Armee Korps (5th Army Corps), the mark ' B.A.V 1913' is for Bekleidungsamt (clothing store) V (5th Army), the other mark is a maker mark, i cannot make it out. 47th Infantry regiment was a Prussian regiment, the refrence to Ludwig King of Bavaria in its title is honourific only.
