Default Odd Iron Cross - Propaganda Piece?

Not really sure where to put this one....

My friend just picked this up. He thinks it is a US or British propaganda piece used to raise money for Charity. But not sure.

Has anyone seen one of these?

I think your friend is right.

That is a really interesting cross and one that I have never seen before.
My guess (and it's only a guess)is that this is an American made piece
that was sold to raise funds before the US entered the war.

There were many German/American societies active in the US. I have
a Iron Cross paperweight-table medal that was made in the US and sold
through a Chicago bank to help out raise funds.

So maybe in "support" of the Germans prior to the US entering the war? It doesn't seem to be denigrating the Germans.

    Thumbs up

(btw...my friend thought it was anti-german to raise funds locally but like you I think it is in support of the Germans)

    Thanks for the help!

It could also be from the 1920s or 30s. Post ww1 but before
ww2. My table medal is in a box that says----
"In memory of the great war and your loyalty to the old country"

Very interesting. But (in a good way) the theory still holds. Not Anti-German.

Post war might also makes more sense given that it is about widows and orphans.

    Excellent work Greg!

    Thanks!
