    This looks like a Tombak wound-badge...I believe the needle is a replacement.

    Hello grimlin
    WW1 Verwundetenabzeichen as private purchase examples were available up until the early 1940's, &
    were made in materials such as steel, tombak, zinc, etc. I don't have a problem with the example posted
    & I am inclined to agree with Glenn about the replaced pin. Here we have a barrel hinge with no obvious
    way of keeping tension on the pin.
