Original or faked Officers Erkennungsmarken

Article about: Hi I have this dog tag in my collection. I purchased it along with an 11 place ribbon bar with Imperial and Third Reich ribbons. Can anyone tell me if it is a good or bad one. Thank you.

A good friend of mine has helped me out with this:

von Sommerfeld und Falkenhayn, Hugo Generalmajor Heer 1868-1956

Bar is true to the dog tag. So he obviouslt being on the General Staff was allowed or wore against regs his older dog tag.

Alan, thats good news , that would explain the condition.
"The German Army is the perfectly adapted, perfectly running Machine. The difference is that the Germans are organised with a view to War...with the cold, hard, practical and business-like purpose of winning victories."

All I need to do now is hunt out a photo of him, and find out what he did in WWI and WWII. Any ideas?
