    Is it WW1? Well it could be, but this type of dagger was made after WW1 as well. An earlier knife would have wooden hand grips, a later knife will be bakelite. I can't tell from your photos if they are wood, but I suspect bakelite. Being an example with no maker's mark also does not help dating it.

    Looks like it's been made from a dress bayonet!...

    I would say that this has a good chance of being ww1. Lance shows
    a few different versions of this style in his thread. I did not look through
    his entire thread to find a match but check out post # 36,37, 90.

    Greetings Wunderwafe,

    I concur with Anderson's comments. These style knives range from late WWI through the mid-1930's. It may very well be late WWI example or quite a few years later. The bird's head style remained quite popular well after the war.

    I will also add that they also were made with horn handle grips. I have a couple examples of this type.
