    Hi ,

    I have got this freak pickelhaube: damaged eagle on the front and metal spike looks original and looks attached later. Ball- shaped leather WW1 type? Piece of metal with number on the back?One buckle on the front strap?I have no ideas. Anyone can help me to recognize please? What is this, any ideas? Thank you for any comments.

    Alex, im afraid I agree, a "Freak Pickelhaube" indeed, actually the Eagle badge and spike assembly are genuine, albeit in bad condition (so its not all doom and gloom !), the helmet body, visors and interior, (the rest of the haube) are a badly constructed copy, looks to be a very homemade affair.

    Perhaps something thrown together for a theatrical program. with the exception of the plate and spike, definitely home made.
