    Default Pickelhaube and cover

I recently purchased this pickelhaube and cover. As far as I can tell they have always been together the cover has wear consistent with it being on the helmet for a very long time. However the cover has been questioned as a fake. I did not rush into the purchase looking at close ups in Micheal Baldwins excellent FELDZUG books in which several covers of the type I have bought are illustrated. The wear of the cover to me is authentic-i.e not artificially aged up-having collected WW2 German items for over 30 years I saw attempts at artificial ageing which never came close if in the hands. I WOULD WELCOME VIEWS. Good or bad.

    regards

I honestly don't know much about these things. But if the cover is a fake, then someone has done a damned good job of ageing it!

I hope it does prove genuine because it looks awesome.
