PLEASE HELP - WWI German Flag - AUTHENTIC?

Hello,
I have been offered this flag.
I am going to meet the seller and take better photos.
Can you tell me whether it is authentic and also give me an idea of value.
I am being asked to make an offer.
Also, what should I take photos of in order to give you a better idea on these issues?

Anton67: It looks original, it has the aging stains and fold creases, but I cannot say for sure that it is. There should be a maker's tag on the luff. And yes, better, more detailed, photos would help, especially of the luff and the attachment method, if there is anything left of it. Also the exact dimensions would be useful. It looks awfully long and narrow, which causes me to wonder what it was used for. As for what to offer, I have not a clue. It all depends on how badly you want it. The best, Dwight

Be warned, though, that just because it is the colors and pattern from WWI era, that it is not necessarily from that time. They did continue to make the tricolors up into WWII as well. And as Dwight pointed out, the shape is unusual. I wonder if it may have been made to hang on a building or from a window on a street as a patriotic banner? What is it made of? If it is authentic and of the period, it would, of course, be a decent collectable, but I would not invest more than a couple of hundred into it.
