    Dear Gentlemen,

A friend of mine has found a small collection of German imperial Pickelhaube.
He was asking for my opinion on it. I must admit I just have some basic knowledge about German imperial headgear.
My first idea was then to ask expert members of this forum....
So I will upload in the next few hours some pictures of different helmets for your appraisal.

Let's start with the first one :

For me, it looks like a soldier Prussian helmet of a Guard Regiment ? Eisenbahn ?

    Many thanks

    Kind regards

The Wappen (plate) on this is for a Guard unit. It is a model 1915 grey metal fitting and could be for an Infantry, Pioneer, Train, or Eisenbahn unit. I have no idea what the cord is that appears attached to the chin strap. The Reich's cockade is on the wrong side (Reich- right, Land - left). Are there extra Wappen holes on the front of the helmet? All the parts do appear to fit the helmet. The lack of unit stamps is not uncommon for these war time helmets. Piece has a nice shape and other than the lining appear in nice condition.

I can only see two holes for the Wappen, and there does appear to be a stamp - or maybe writing on the dome of the helmet. A very nice and collectible helmet!

    Cheers,

Difficult to say from the supplied picture, but from what I can see, it appears to be OK. The fittings seem to be originals, and there is certainly some age to the leather.
