The bayonet is made by Deutsche Maschinenfabrik A-G Duisburg. Is the marking H.MUNDLOS & CO MAGDEBURG on the other side a distributor marking such as what one can oftentimes find on the backspine of the blade of an Imperial German sword?

My old reference book "The sword and bayonet makers of Imperial Germany 1871-1918" by John Walter lists them as "most probably a retailer of the edged weapons which bore its name; it is unlikely that the company manufactured the items, which were in all probability purchased in Solingen. This theory is confirmed by the appearance on the blades, almost without exception, of the marks of F Herder & Sohn or R A Herder & Cie - both of Solingen, and both of whom are generally regarded as "manufacturing" cutlers. Nothing has since been noted of Mundlos, and it is likely that the firm was dissolved in the interwar period."

    Best Regards,

Thankyou for the interesting information, this makes sense of Mundlos not being the manufacturer as I have seen blades with A-G Duisburg only without Mundlos on the blade.
