Great stuff, what does the goblet say?
Sorry, Spanish Cross was uploaded as well
"zum Andenken von seinen Kameraden" 1840
wow, that is impressive! Is this from your family?
Yes, Great,Great Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Grandfather - Prussian Infantry, Jager & Guarde.
I actually hold most attachment to the collar tabs which were from a Great Uncle. He was badly wounded in 1915 and after recuperating he was given a position driving staff officers. He later volunteered for the Sturm truppen and was KIA.
It was the collar tabs that caught my attention, Greimers.
Were they worn as a pair, left and right?
Most unusual, as two diffeent cars are shown, but, apart from that, they look like a pair.
Marvellous family history. Deserves to be researched in detail and recorded, but maybe you have done this already.
I annotated and published my father's memoirs. Most useful thing I've ever done.
Cheers,
Pat
Hi Pat, they are a pair, the left tab is missing the steering wheel and column which are seperate attachments to the vehicle itself. Unfortunately these tabs were attacked by what I later found out to be "carpet beetles".
You've got some really nice items there. I really like the Goblet with the
Red Eagle attached to it.
