Default Sword knot , date ?

hi guy`s , i bought this on a whim for what i thought was a good price of 10 . i believe it to be an Austrian officers sword knot and i think it looks great with a nice patina that makes it look a golden colour ( it is a silver colour in the centre of the tassel ) . It is also quite large in size , the tassel is about 2 inches across . Can anyone tell me what period this was used and would this still be used on swords today ? I`ve got to find an Austrian sword to put it on now

    cheers Al
