They were made by the Lowell Toy Mfg corp of New York.
They could be pruchased from retailers or came as premiums
in food items, ect. ( I believe "Grape Nuts" cereal offered them)
There was an entire set of the worlds famous medals to be collected.
Here is my new arrival. A 1870 Ek2, still on it's card, unopened
and still with the original clear wrapper. (the plastic wrapper does not show
to well in the pictures)

Greg, super items !...I missed one on E-Bay a couple of weeks ago ! ...it went for around $6 ! I will have to keep my eyes peeled, thanks for the follow up.These cereal/food premiums are collectable in their own right.
