    Default Trench dagger?

    Hello

Here’s a dagger that reminds me of those used in the trenches (roughly the same size) only it appears to be some kind of presentation dagger with the flags of the German navy, Austria and Turkey on the blade. The stag horn handle is usually something found on hunting knives I thought.

There's no manufacturer's mark, just Ges. Geschuetzt on the blade.

Does anyone know the history behind such daggers? Some kind of post war souvenir or commemorative dagger perhaps?

    Thanks for any help.

    Greetings Tony,

Go here https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/imper...nife-370751-3/ and see post #26 for two similarly themed patriotic knives. Various manufactures made these knives, primarily during WWI, but some styles were made after the war too. These knives were not meant for heavy duty as they are pretty delicately constructed. There are many variations on the blade etchings to be found, that’s all I can share about them.

    Regards,

    Lance
