    a) S. H. = Schutzpolizei Hannover. Weapon 78.

    b) 1/ R. R.12. = 12th Cavalry (Reiter) Regiment 1st Squadron. Weapon 10 - Reichswehr marking.

    Based in Dresden. Part of 2. Kavallerie-Division. Converted in 1934/5 to I. Abteilung / Panzer-Regiment 3

I can also make out the "1920" property stamp on the crossguard of one of the sabres.

Originally there probably would have been a two digit date code on the back of the blade and the manufacturers name on the side.

The design of the sword dates back to the start of the nineteenth century.

    Hope that helps a little.

    Regards

    Richie,

Many thanks for the ID. I had the Rieter Regt but the weapon number threw me. They are maker marked but you can't see because of the cross gaurd!

    Thanks again.
