Unit on Gew 88 Rifle

Does anybody know who this unit is. I purchased this German Gew 88 rifle and it had this unit mark on it. Any help will be appreciated

Infantry Regiment 118 Company 14 Weapon 208.

Official unit title Infanterie-Regiment Prinz Carl (4. Großherzoglich Hessisches) Nr. 118

Who was the 14th company? Each Regiment had 3 battalions, each battalion had 4 companies and a MG company. Line companies were numbered 1 thru 12, while the MG's were 1-2-3. Was the 118th a 4 battalion regiment? Riche B's answer is correct (by my understand the way equipment was marked), I just can't figure out who the 14th company was.
