Unknown medal?
Hello all,
I recently came across this medal in my grandfather's old belongings. It looks like Imperial German to me, but I have not had much luck identifying it. Unfortunately, there are no maker's marks and the center piece is missing, so it is difficult for me to figure out what it might be. Does anyone have any ideas on what it is and what possible value it has in its current condition? Thank you in advance for any help!
Best,
Derrick

Re: Unknown medal?
Possibly Belgian. I'll see if I can find a complete example.

Re: Unknown medal?
Here is a link to the 'Order Of Leopold'.
Belgian Medals - Order of Leopold 1 Medals
However these are not exactly the same - there are differences
in the crown and the arms of the cross itself. It is along
these lines though.........

Re: Unknown medal?
Steve nailed it-The Order of Leopold. Unfortunately, in this condition, it is basically only a curio as far as value goes.

Re: Unknown medal?
Thanks for the help everyone! I was actually thinking it was a legion of honor medal, but I had never seen one with a crown. Every example I've seen has a wreath on top, so I figured maybe Imperial German, but the link stuka f posted definitely looks like what I have. If it is the French medal, would it have some value, or is it pretty much a cool keepsake? Thanks again for the help!

Re: Unknown medal?
I believe Kris is spot on compared to the Belgian one I posted.
The arms of the 'Legion Of Honour, Napoleon III' are plain
white enamel - just like the damaged example posted.
Kris has nailed it.........!
