Unknown medal

Hello, I am not sure about the period of this particular medal, nor can I find any info on it. It looks similar in design a Schutztruppe star. It is enamelled in the centre. I cannot quite decipher the text on the back, something about faithful service?

Please post your thoughts.

It's an award for 7 years in the local brass band, not a military award.

I did not know what this medallion was until Redgemak pointed it out....on the subject of German (modern) marching bands, they seem on the whole to model their uniforms and accessories on a traditional military theme,one has to be remember this and be careful, especially on auction sites, when purchasing ''band'' items that are frequently sold as military. Some of their tunics/jackets are strikingly similar to the Imperial style Hussars ''Attilla'' jacket !

Thanks for your help guys, It came with a grouping of rubbish basically so I'm not to disappointed. Sorry to clutter the forum with this tosh!
