I've just seen an M15 from Bayern, standard infantery type with grey fittings, but with an inkstamp that's new to me. 147 BD III 12.6 Does this ring a bell with anyone? It isn't from IR147 as that wasn't a Bayern regiment, and I can't think what BD would stand for. The initials Bd in German refer to a book or volume, which wouldn't make sense. Also 12.6 seems a bit odd. If anyone has any thoughts on this I'd be glad to hear it. No photo of it I'm afraid.

DPW......"BD" was used by the cothing dept of the Bavarian 3rd Army on its inception on the out break of war in 1914...its stands for "Bekliedungs" simply "Clothing" , however no idea on the rest of the marking....
    Prost ! Steve.

If it were a holster or weapon I would read it as 147 Brigade, 3rd Battalion. 12th company.
