    The EK2 is real.
The PLM is IMO a fake. That particular style of Eagle
with the very distinctive tail feathers is attributed to
the firm of "Rothe & Neffe". Originals from this maker
IMO would not be stamped with a Godet maker's mark.
Godet never made PLMs with that style Eagle.

Now for the last Ek1 you posted.
Thank you for that one because the seller posted some
real nice pictures for me to add to my FAKES file. PLUS,
you might notice that this cross is exactly the same as
the first Ek1 that you posted earlier in this thread.

Any time you see a cross with the overly large crown
and the closed 4, a red flag should go up. As I said earlier,
there are known good examples of these but most that are
seen (especially on ebay) are fakes. and they are GOOD
fakes . Fooling a lot of people even experienced collectors.
---This one was easy to spot because of the "K" makers mark.
ALSO if you look at his other listings, He has the same cross
only with slightly different hardware with a "WS" makers mark
on it. That cross is ABSOLUTELY not a Wagner and Sohn cross.
    NOT EVEN CLOSE.

These crosses were easy to spot because of the style hardware
used but some of the fakers are getting real good at the small
    details.

I am adding some shots of the back sides of these
"Closed 4" fake crosses as reference .

Thanks so much! That website must just be hawking fakes left and right.... Just heard from another forummember here that the site's "Elephant Order" doesn't look good either....

Scary stuff! Thanks for the tips on ID'ing good EK1's. I'd like to get one eventually but clearly need to study them more. I'd be fooled by just about every single one so far. I thought the prices on them seemed kind of low. They have 3rd Reich crosses that seemed priced low too, I wonder if they're rip offs as well...

Staying away from that guy's site.

    Anyway, thanks again!

What things stand out to you the most?

Chopperman's told me about the closed 4 and large crown.

I looked at these items on the sellers site last night and did
not comment here. The markings are not what I would
expect to see on originals. Greg has pointed out
the glaring errors on the front.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

On the two that the ebay seller has listed, the makers marks
are the dead give away. There are no original 1914s with a "K"
makers mark. On the other cross, that is marked "WS". This is
what a proper Wagner & Sohn cross should look like.

The last few seconds bidding by automated systems are cruel and ungentlemanly, however it seems to be on the increase, so if you have bottomless pockets its a great way! if you do not like me, then the happiness of a period of being in the lead and then dashed at the last hurdle continues! :>(

Not at all. I use Bidslammer and eSnipe if there is something I definitely want. You set your maximum price and 9 out of 10 times you win the item.
I don't class it as ungentlemanly, as all too often people will stick in bids even if they don't want it, knowing that genuine buyers end up paying over the odds.
I've no doubt it IS shill bidding - place an ad, then get your mates to add the odd bid, inflating the net profit.

I think it's unfair to use those things, just wait till the last 10 seconds and snipe yourself like I do : ) *pew pew*
