    Hi Tony,

I’ve just come across your 2015 post and can see that you received no replies so……for me these photos make it appear as though it is indeed a scarce square dip helmet. The photos show the steep drop from front to rear visor especially compared with the other helmet. Sometimes Siemens & Halske A.G., Siemenstadt Berlin manufacturerd helmets are mistaken for square dips, however S&H only made size 60 shells and this appears to be a 62-64. Aside from this, the folded over lip of steel on the inside (last photo - especially the transition area) clearly shows the trademark ET Square Dip working.

I doubt there are any manufacturers marks visible, but if so it would be ET as ET was the only factory that manufactured these helmets. Interestingly, after field testing in late December 1915, these were used in the initial battles at Verdun, so this ties in nicely with the sales tag and points to this one potentially being a helmet used during those battles. With an approximation of only 30 thousand helmets being made, this one is indeed a rare relic to have in the collection.
