ww1 Gorget (My Great Grandfathers)

Needs some help with this gorget. It belonged to my great grandfather and i was wondering what the numbers mean to the centre of the gorget and also is it a rare thing? Only ive been looking for information on these but cant find much information. The chain is brass but my grandfather was a very heavy smoker so its turned black, i wont ever clean it though. Any info would be great.

It's a Prussian gorget for an enlisted man of the Feldgendarmerie [military police].

The Roman number identifies the Armeekorps [Army Corps]; the Arabic number on top is an individual ID number.

That's all I can tell you, but other members might be able to provide addtional information.

Thank you that's grat, so I'm guessing he was number '6' which is cool to know. I wondered if he put the material on himself so it didn't shine or was it issued like that.

Cheers wizardman but just lucky with this being part of the families history. His name was Gustaf Trampenau have a picture of him but sadly not in uniform. Does make a great addition to my ww1 german collection though.
