Here is my WW1 Iron Cross 1st class screw back. I thought that this was somewhat unusual being a screw back with a 2 piece back. Am I correct or is it more common than I think? It is also stamped 800. No maker as far as I can tell.

Though screw-backs are somewhat unusual as you say, this is indeed
one of the more commonly seen of this type, likely private purchase.

I agree completely.
One of the more commonly seen style of screwbacks.
It has nice, crisp core details, all it's parts and is silver stamped.
I don't think we can name the maker of it.
A very nice cross-----one I would be proud to own.
