Default Ww1 medal questions and authenticity

Hello everyone, I recently purchased this ww1 medal in Vienna. It is my first item I have bought from the world wars but hope to expand my collection, as I have become very interested in the world wars. Anyway, i was wondering what this medal is called, what ranks or divisions it would have been awarded to, and if it is authentic. I believe it is from Austria or Germany, however please correct me if I am mistaken. thanks a lot, -EmmittWw1 medal questions and authenticityWw1 medal questions and authenticityWw1 medal questions and authenticityWw1 medal questions and authenticityWw1 medal questions and authenticity

    Hello Emmitt

This thread may be of interest:

    The 1914/1918 Ehrenkreuz

These awards are not a collecting interest of mine, but it appears yours has the wrong ribbon.
    Welcome to the Forum.

Thanks, that article was very informative and helpful. Do you or anyone else know what that ribbon may have gone to?

The ribbon is Austrian-Hungarian. Possibly for the Karl Truppen-Kreuz

Indeed, this is the ribbon of Karl Truppenkreuz. For the right ribbon for the Ehrekreuz für Frontkämpfer look at the pictures below

Also, just want to clarify, the medal itself apart from the ribbon is authentic, correct?

The cross itself looks a little bit odd (unsharp details). Check them, if it is magnetic.
