WW1 Verwundetenabzeichen in Silber, Cut-out design

Article about: Hallo alte Kameraden I am being offered this WW1 - Woundbadge, as an ORIGINAL , for 22 Euros which seams a good price. I like it quite a lot, but i am rather ignorant in german WW1 insignia.

Dammit... just listen to yourself.. "i am not an expert" and after that the most exquisite analysis & description ever made by a human being.
If you´re not experts, what are you then? Yo guys are VERWUNDETENABZEICHEN-MASTERS !!! My respect and admiration & gratitude for taking all the time and effort.. But yes, when there´s passion and one likes something, the effort becomes pleasure, and that´s why we´re all here, isn´t it so?

Trust me, I'm not expert because I DON"T know the answer....LoL. I'm that annoying guy in the meeting that criticizes everything but never provides a solution!

And.....for the price, it is worth the gamble IMHO, besides Ade and Glenn have given it the OK and they know their stuff.

There were a multitude of makers for these private purchase awards, and variations are to be expected...I've taken a better look at this example, and am wondering if it isn't actually a Black Wound Badge that has been stripped and buffed, creating the worn, silvered effect...
This would explain the low price...
    cheers, Glenn
Was thinking a similar thought but there are no traces of paint that I could see. Unless it was dipped in something to remove the paint completely

Interesting to see how different they are. Swords, Helments, pin set up, etc.

    Hello gents
Here is a link to WAF that shows a solid badge with the same helmet, bow & wreath design
that is apparently a known fake. this one certainly looks like it has been polished with a fine
    steel wool.

The main feature (for me) to look out for is the rear hardware...Familiarize yourself with known and accepted period pin/pinplate/hinge/catch styles...You can always expect variations in the front details, but not the basic reverse set-up, IMO...cheers, Glenn

I believe the badge is original Black Grade...not Silver Grade.

Thanks for this find. Similar but not exact. The Dots on the top of the wreath on ones at WAF are flattened like someone sat on them. But the leaves are the same.

Thanks for the link, but the information provided by that 2011-dated thread has it's own flaws and is worthy of it's own discussion, in my opinion...
    cheers, Glenn
