WWI chest plate

Came across this metal chest plate /armor anybody ever seen one like it . Could it be trench armor or a piece from a costume. Thanks for looking . Gary

Bearing in mind the forum has been half dead for days because of tech issues and also the uncommon nature of this item, I would wait more than three hours to ask a second time about this.

It is not the typical German body armor. It might not even be military related,
it could be for industrial use.

This is the more typical style of body armor that I have seen posted however a lot
of variations exist.

What sort of gauge steel plate is it? From the photos it looks fairly thin. My initial impression is not military, possibly industrial shield of some sort.
